A Landscape Horror: Kilchattan Wind Farm would create an industrial backdrop and dominate the main settlement area and the surrounding low-lying farmland and coastal area.

A Site Outwith The Preferred Area Of Search: The proposed site lies within a “Constrained Area” for the development of wind farms as detailed in Argyll & Bute’s Finalised Draft Local Plan

Historical And Cultural Importance: Immortalised in the song 'Mull of Kintyre' by Paul McCartney, the area is rich in sites of local and national historical and archaeological importance. These include the site where St. Columba first landed in Scotland, Dunaverty Rock and Castle, four Scheduled Ancient Monuments, including Blasthill chambered cairn, and the prehistoric Dun Glas dun.

Natural Heritage: The area provides important habitat to a wide range of birds, mammals and plant life, much of which is protected and includes: hen harrier, merlin, peregrine falcon, black grouse, whooper swan, bean goose, badger, otter and the small pearl bordered fritillary butterfly.
